Approach to Counseling

During sessions, I work to foster a safe environment that allows each client to undergo growth and healing in the midst of whatever challenges they may be facing. I help clients sort through the conflict within themselves while healing from the external wounds that have compounded throughout life, all with the goal of connecting with their authentic selves in a way that fosters deep meaning, connection, and joy. My specialties include struggles relating to anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma/PTSD, relationship issues, sexuality, suicidality, and spirituality.

When helping a client meet their goals, I blend a variety of therapeutic approaches based on the client’s needs. My approach to counseling is largely informed by the science of attachment theory and up-to-date findings of neuroscience, and utilizes tenets of Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Affect Regulation Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and Person-Centered Therapy. I’m also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and have completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, which serves as a foundation for my work with couples.

Education/Background

I am currently a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, MH21131. Before counseling, I spent most of my time working in restaurants. After changing majors a few times, I got my B.S. in Ministerial Leadership and worked in ministry, primarily focusing on working with youth ministry and the worship team. Eventually, I jumped back into school and earned my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Palm Beach Atlantic University and began my counseling career.

Outside of Counseling

When I’m not counseling, I love to spend time with my wife playing board games and watching detective dramas or silly sitcoms. I also love spending time with those close to me, listening to or playing music, and going down rabbit holes learning about whatever interesting topic grabs my attention. My adventurous side takes over every once in a while and my desire to travel runs amok, but I usually just find myself adventuring out to a new restaurant because I absolutely love food.
